A great opportunity for  local young musicians sees the announcement of a strategic partnership between School of Rock Newcastle and  WEA Academy of Creative  Arts.

The partnership will provide  training pathways  and performance opportunities for students  pf School of Rock Newcastle and employment pathways for WEA Academy of Creative Arts Students.

The strategic alliance will also see two former band mate come together. Grant Walmsley, founding member and songwriter with the Screaming jets will once again join  his former band mate Craig ‘Rosie’ Rosevear  in an endeavour close to both of their hearts, the development of young local bands.

Says Walmsley  ” This is a model that we’ve wanted to create for some time. The  benefits are huge for both students of School of Rock and WEA. The  time is right for this and we’ve got great support from  the music industry”

The announcement comes at a time where the WEA Academy of Creative Arts have relocated form their Cooks Hill base to the purpose built facility in Beaumont St. Hamilton.

Says Rosevear ” The new WEA music premises is a great performance space. It will be cool for the School of Rock kids to get familiar with teachers, students and programs the  WEA provide and this will make it an easy transition for School of Rock Newcastle kids when they are ready for tertiary training”
